Prahlad was a young prince and devotee of Lord Vishnu. His father, Hiranyakashipu, was a demon king who despised Lord Vishnu and wanted everyone to worship him instead.
Despite his father's orders, Prahlad continued to worship Lord Vishnu and refused to worship Hiranyakashipu. This angered his father, who tried to kill him in various ways but Lord Vishnu always came to Prahlad's rescue.
One day, Hiranyakashipu challenged Prahlad to show him where Lord Vishnu was. Prahlad pointed to a pillar and said that Lord Vishnu was in it. In anger, Hiranyakashipu tried to break the pillar and Lord Vishnu appeared in the form of Narasimha (half-man, half-lion) and killed Hiranyakashipu.
Prahlad was then crowned as king and continued to be a great devotee of Lord Vishnu for the rest of his life. The story of Prahlad teaches us about the power of devotion and the triumph of good over evil.
